A small school with big ambition

Welcome to Isla Primary School's Website

Head's Welcome

Welcome to Isla Primary School

From the moment you step through our doors, you’ll see what makes our school so special. Nestled in the beautiful Angus countryside, on the edge of the Cairngorms, Isla Primary is more than just a place to learn—it’s a place to grow, explore, and belong.

Here, children explore, create and learn every day, whether inside the classroom, in the playground or out in our beautiful surroundings.

Our small school community means every child is known, valued and supported to each their full potential. From our house teams - Peel, Reekie Linn and Balintore, to our exciting clubs, trips, outdoor adventures  and sports, there's always something for children to enjoy and be proud of.

At Isla, we believe that learning is not just about academics and the curriculum for excellence, it’s about developing the whole child. We focus on nurturing resilience, empathy, and a love of learning that will last a lifetime. We are proud of our strong community connections, our vibrant curriculum, and the opportunities we provide for children to explore, achieve, and make memories that stay with them forever.

Our school building was built in 2010 and has been designed to reflect the shapes of local farm buildings and the rolling hills that surround us, making it a true part of our landscape.

As Headteacher, my commitment is simple: to ensure that Isla Primary remains a warm, inclusive, and inspiring place where every child has the opportunity to flourish. I look forward to welcoming you and your family into our school community.
